Managing Director
Steve has worked in a professional capacity within the Construction Industry for over 25 years. He has a multi-disciplinary background, having carried out roles in Surveying, Project Management and Architecture. Steve is responsible for the management of the practices day to day operations and keeps a close eye on the service levels and quality assurance procedures that the business employs. Steve is a working director and carries out the pre and post contract role acting as Project Manager, Employers Agent and CDM PD Advisor for a number of clients.


Ben is a multi-disciplinary construction professional with a background in Surveying and Project Management. Based out of our Truro office Ben is responsible for leading a team of surveyors and also undertakes the pre and post-contract Employers Agent and CDM PD advisor role for clients based in Cornwall. Ben is responsible for Business Development and is particularly focused on furthering the company’s growing profile throughout the South West. Ben has extensive experience in both the professional and contracting disciplines of construction.

Peter Owens MRICS IMaPS

Senior Associate and team leader
Peter has over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry on both the Professional and Contracting sides of the business. His former positions acting as Commercial Manager for House Building Companies gives him extensive knowledge of construction costings and processes and he is responsible for overseeing the practice’s costs database. Prior to joining Taylor Lewis Peter was Chief Surveyor and Commercial Manager for Midas Homes overseeing a team of surveyors to ensure best value for money was being obtained both pre and post-contract.


Sarah provides Quantity Surveying, Project Management and CDM services to a number of framework clients and is a key member of the team with strong commercial acumen and a positive work ethic. Sarah also provides support to those currently in training. Her current position involves her acting at a senior level on projects with values up to £21m. She is responsible for specific key clients working closely to deliver their development programmes on time and within budget..


Associate and team leader
Andy is a multi-disciplinary construction professional with a background in Building Surveying and Quantity Surveying. As Associate and Team Leader for Cornwall, Andy carries out the Employers Agent and PD Advisors role pre and post contract for a number of framework clients. Andy also works as a Building Surveyor and carries out building surveys, project monitoring for finance institutions, Party Wall surveys, dilapidations surveys and project management services. Andy is well placed to provide specialist Building Surveying services where problems arise either during construction or post completion.

Robin Jackson AssocRICS

Associate and team leader
Robin joined the Taylor Lewis team from Trowers & Hamlins solicitors where he worked as a Property Lawyer for 8 years advising Registered Providers, private individuals and companies on all aspects of residential and commercial development and construction projects as well as property and land acquisitions and disposals. Robin’s legal background provides for an enhanced level of support for all Taylor Lewis clients. Robin has exceptional knowledge of all types of Building Contracts, Development Agreements and Statutory Agreements and has a vast experience of working with Registered Providers. His transferrable skills from his legal background allow him to maintain these relationships and deliver an excellent service as a Senior Surveyor at Taylor Lewis. Robin is currently undertaking the RICS APC and intends to achieve Chartered status in 2018.


Anthony Bassett MRICS CIHM

Senior Surveyor
Ant joined Taylor Lewis from Ocean Housing where he assisted with the delivery of Oceans development programmes and supported Ocean’s agents, professional advisors, internal design staff, partners and contractors in the timely delivery of new housing. At Taylor Lewis Ant further supports the existing team acting as the Employers Agent on typical Design & Build schemes including preparing cost estimates, assessing contractor’s application for payment, cost reporting, chairing meetings and liaising direct with the client. With Ant’s previous development experience he is able to offer additional skills when looking at land led schemes for our current list of retained clients.

Andy Jordan

Andy JordanSenior Surveyor
Andy has 20 years' experience within the construction industry, having worked on a diverse range of schemes in the commercial, leisure, healthcare and residential markets across public and private sectors in the South West. Whilst his career has focused predominantly on the new build affordable housing markets he also has in depth experience of design management, value engineering, risk management, health and safety, procurement and cost planning across all stages of the project life cycle. He promotes a teamwork approach to managing and delivering projects, and recognises the need for strong relationships in order to attain a successful project delivery.

Steve Esau MCIOB

Senior Surveyor
Steve has worked over 25 years in social housing on the client side for regional and national housing associations and local authorities. He has a multi- disciplinary background having carried out building surveying and project management roles and has managed multi - disciplinary teams delivering asset management services including maintenance, regeneration and development. He has assisted development teams in the drafting of employers requirements and ongoing reviews and with his in depth knowledge of maintenance, repairs and defects analysis is able to advise what works recommending changes to the employers requirements. Steve has achieved MCIOB status.

Chris Moore MCIOB

Senior Surveyor

Chris joined the Taylor Lewis team from Knightstone Housing Association where he assisted with the delivery of their development programmes and supported Knightstone's agents, professional advisors, internal staff, partners and contractors in the timely delivery of new housing. At Taylor Lewis, Chris acts as the Employers Agent on Design & Build schemes. Chris's career has focused predominantly on the new build affordable housing market and he offers in depth knowledge and experience, whilst also having experience in design, planning and building regulations. Chris has achieved MCIOB status and is currently undertaking the RICS APC

Guy Marks

Senior Surveyor
Guy studied at Loughborough University for a qualification in Construction Design Management and Architectural Engineering before completing the Construction & Surveying Post Graduate Diploma at the College of Estates Management, University of Reading. Originally working for International Contractor BAM Construction, Guy was a member of the team responsible for a £70m programme for the modification, relocation and rebuild of primary, middle and secondary schools. For the last 10 years Guy has been working from the Midlands and Cardiff offices responsible for acting as Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultant for social housing clients across the Midlands and South Wales region. Guy is also our Sustainability Advisor, providing energy consultancy and acting as CfSH Assessor and SAP Assessor for existing clients, but also for a number of Contractors across England and South Wales.


Howard Parker MICWCI

Technical Advisor
Howard has 20 years’ experience in the construction and house building industry which has led him to develop expert skills in the delivery of excellent build quality. Howard joined Taylor Lewis from Sovereign Housing where he was involved with design development and specification reviews to ensure that homes for rent and shared ownership met current trends and that they complied with current government policy standards.

Peter Lloyd MICWCI

Technical Advisor
Peter has over 40 years’ experience in the Construction Industry with a background in Education, Retail, Care, Housing and Hotel & Leisure. Skills include Building Design, Project Management, Building Maintenance & Surveying. Peter joined us in 2013 from being Property Manager of TLH Leisure Resort. Peter’s wide range of experience and detailed understanding of Building Construction & Maintenance is an invaluable asset to the team. Peter has worked most of his career with a focus on customer service and he brings these skills to our Clerk of Works services.

Dave Turner MICWCI

Technical Advisor
David joined Taylor Lewis from Sovereign Housing, where he was involved with monitoring the quality of the build, carrying out regular site visits and ensuring that the contract specification and HCA standards were achieved. At Taylor Lewis, Dave acts as the Clerk of Works and Project Manager on a number of Development Projects.


Gina Mitchell

Directors PA/Office Manager
Gina is the longest serving member of the Taylor Lewis Team having celebrated 25 years’ service recently. As both PA to the Directors and Office Manager, Gina is responsible for the day to day running of all internal business functions including payroll and staff administration but most notably accounting, finance and banking. Gina’s day will also often incorporate Marketing and Business Development as well as Health & Safety administration.

Carole Smith

Project Administrator
Carole joined Taylor Lewis in 2010. She has over 40 years' experience within the construction industry having worked in the South West and Jersey as an Architectural Technician and surveyor undertaking measured property surveys. Carole has an in-depth appreciation of design and detail within speculative and commercial development and she is an expert in affordable housing standards including Homes and Communities Agency Design & Quality Standards, HQIs, National Housing Federation design standards and Lifetime Homes and Building for Life. Carole is invaluable in providing support for the surveyors with the review of design drawings.

Karen Craddock

Project Coordinator
Karen joined Taylor Lewis from Sovereign Housing where she worked for 9 years firstly as a Development Secretary and then as a Development Assurance Officer. Her roles were to ensure that every development was compliant with HCA audit requirements as well as providing handover information to Sovereigns internal stakeholders and taking possession of units and coordinating defect inspections. At Taylor Lewis Karen is responsible for maintenance of our internal processes, Information Technology and data storage as well as supporting the Surveyors in Project Administration and administering our comprehensive defects management system.
